Meet Us

We want to build long-term relationships with you and your teeth.
The experience and qualifications to give you complete confidence.

Meet UsAfter 27 years in Mill Hill East, we've built a reputation for outstanding work, attentive service, and a long-term commitment to our patients' dental health.

It is of course led by our two partners. Jon Portner brings over 30 years' experience with particular expertise in cosmetic dentistry, a passion for his craft, good humour and a caring approach which helps patients overcome any fear. Rob Pittack brings over 20 years' experience, a sensitive and empathetic manner, and a great degree of technical expertise in implants in particular. They are passionately committed to offering the very best dentist service possible, continually studying new techniques and keeping up with the latest technology. That commitment to excellence draws the involvement of a brilliant team of specialists see below.

We have great long-term relationships with our patients, and for the most part, they do with their teeth. Come and see what we could do for you

Wayne Halfpenny, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

Ageing and the general wear and tear affect the looks of all of us. Wouldn't it be nice to turn back the years? At Portner Pittack, we consider the overall look of your face, not just the teeth or mouth in isolation.

Facial aesthetics is about ways of rejuvenating your face giving you a sparkling, younger, natural look. Getting this exactly right is highly skilled, and so we are very glad to team up with one of the best in the business, Wayne Halfpenny, a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Wayne has a deep understanding of the way facial muscles work and the structure of the face, and is expert at the full range of treatments, both surgical and non-surgical.

These include facial rejuvenation treatments for reducing smile lines around the mouth, crows feet around the eyes, and deeper wrinkles. Minor facial surgery includes removal of warts, moles and skin tags while more significant procedures include facelifts, nose re-shaping and lip and eyelid surgery.

As an oral surgeon, Wayne expertly carries out surgery such as the removal of wisdom teeth. Some of these procedures may be covered by your private medical insurance.

Ulpee Darbar, Peridontist

Many of the most serious problems with teeth are in fact problems with gums. So we are very lucky to have as a visiting specialist, Ulpee Darbar, a consultant in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology and a world-leader in her field. Ulpee is expert at re-contouring gums and creating great-looking smiles where people have, for example, gummy smiles or receding gums. She also ensures that gums are healthy so that the other dental treatment will succeed.

Ulpee qualified in 1986 from University of Wales, Cardiff and has been a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Hospital & Institute since 1997. She is currently the Clinical Lead for the Periodontology and Implantology running a successful department and is also a teacher and mentor for the specialists in training. In addition to her teaching she lectures both nationally and internationally. Ulpee has published extensively and maintains an active research interest in regenerating bone lost as a result of disease. She is currently a council member of the British Society of Periodontology and is also on the Specialist Advisory Board for Implant dentistry.

Mark Vaughan, Orthodontist

Crooked teeth can be rectified by orthodontic treatment and give you a lovely straight smile and the confidence that goes with that. Many adults suffer from crooked teeth or mis-shaped bites because they received inadequate treatment as children. Mark Vaughan is expert at fitting invisible braces so that treatment is discreet.

Mark has studied with the world's leading expert in orthodontics in Paris and is on the General Dental Council Specialist List in Orthodontics. He undertook his 3-year full-time postgraduate training whilst Specialist Registrar in Orthodontics at The Royal London & Whipps Cross University Hospitals where he obtained his Royal College of Surgeons membership in Orthodontics. Since then his interests and research have continued in three dimensional facial growth, indirect bonding and retention. He has published several papers in clinical journals and has presented research at British and European conferences.

Currently he is teaching at The Royal London and Whipps Cross University Hospitals, assisting in teaching postgraduate specialist registrars in orthodontics.

Truda Odor, Endodontist

The greatest anxiety people have with their teeth is the fear of losing them. Endodontics focuses on saving teeth through root canal treatment, which is the painless removal of inflamed nerves. Truda Odor is on the GDC Specialist list for Endodontics and uses her immense talent to save even the most vulnerable teeth if she possibly can.

Truda obtained her MSc in 1992 and then set up and worked in specialist practice at Ickenham Clinic for 10 years where she received referrals from general practitioners and hospital dentists. She was a clinical demonstrator in endodontics at Kings (98-99) teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She also developed a trauma clinic to follow up acute injuries initially seen in hospital.

Truda provides all forms of endodontic treatment, re-treatment, conventional or surgical.
